It's a little piece of the MAPS XXXVVIII program that was funded by a "temporary" sales tax increase over 20 years ago (IIRC). They just keep putting an extension on the ballot and it keeps getting extended. It sure seems permanent to me.Since I'm not a city boy, what is the purpose and function of this scissor tail park? Today is the first time I've heard of it.
But I will agree, they have really transformed downtown OKC. Devon, Chesapeake and others have "partnered" with city leaders in MAPS and have really spiffed the place up. It's actually kind of neat and that's coming from a guy that utterly DETESTS big cities. Some of the old buildings have been renovated into 1st class office spaces with an old time ambiance and they just exude class. I do like those but I sure would hate to pay the rent on them.
