Red head centipede
Apex predator..
We kept a 9 in one for a pet for a month or so.
I finally told my son it had to go.
Funny thing, handle a tarantula and then pick up the centipede and watch its reaction to the tarantula’s chem trail or smell, kinda cool.
That dude would get serious when he sensed the spider.

My son got the red headed centipede at our farm pond in creek county.
Nine inches and very docile if you let him just move around as he pleased. Grab him or try to control him and you’ll get bitten.
I never tried handling it but Erich handled him daily. I just couldn’t quite get my mind wrapped around the thought.
I’d hate to have to solve a bite with the 1911..

Handsome fellow, isn't he? As for scorpions, I'm not sure I'd call any of them handsome.

Way back in the early '70's, we had a house in Midwest City that was a new construction house, One day, the wife found a scorpion in the house somewhere (doing laundry, I think) and when she spoke of it to a neighbor, the neighbor told her to keep an eye out for a second. The lady claimed that they ran in pairs. Sure enough, about 2 weeks later while doing laundry, the wife found a second one.

When my wife was an I.C.U. Nurse, she was getting dressed in her ‘scubbs’ in the dark to let me sleep, I was awakened by yelling and thrashing around, and jumped out of bed ready to fight. It sounded like she was being assaulted. After the light got turned on, she was laying over a laundry basket kicking off the scrubb pants and saying things that I can’t print in this forum. A scorpion was in those pants and it stung her twice on her thigh and once below her knee. She chased it down and killed it with the heel of a shoe. After she got dressed, she said there’s going to be another one near by. Sure enough, it was on the floor at the base of the bathroom sink waiting for me to brush my teeth. She got that one, too…..
