My wonderful landlady ( grain of salt taken ) came to me the other day and said she was thinking of asking the owner of our apartments if she could hire me for security. I told her I think I would have to be CLEET certified. I don't know if that is true or not. But even if I would have to be I don't think I would want to do it unless I could carry either CC or OC while doing it. She is not looking for someone to confront people just to monitor the 4 apartments complexes they have.

If you want to do it the legal way. You would need to be CLEET certified and purchase a bond. You would need CLEET phase 1,2 and 4 to be an armed security guard.

If you were going to be confronting anyone then you would need either a unarmed or armed security guard license & bond. But if you are gonna just be watching the apartments and then notifying the police or the landlady of any thing out of place.. so they could respond... then you would be more or less a unofficial neighborhood watch. Kind of like what George Zimmerman was doing. You could carry doing it that way. And she could offer you a gift of money thanking you for your time.

If you're not confronting people why would you need a firearm? It sounds like you'd just be a security monitor. You don't need any type of CLEET license for that. From what you've posted it sounds like they just need someone to observe and report. If you need the job and the money then make it easy for them to hire you.
