There is a 'fake' Morel so be cautious. Not sure if they're poisonous(don't think so) but they will have a SOLID stem like a crimini mushroom from the grocery store. A 'true' Morel will have a HOLLOW stem. Good luck!

Maybe the fakes look different from this pic sometimes, but I don't see anyone familiar with morels making that mistake (fakes are on the right, btw).

Thank you! Its not to late to teach your pup to shed hunt, but yesterday would have been better.

What I mean is the sooner the better. Do you have any sheds to start training with?

Yes, I've got a shed or two around here I think. Heading to property next weekend and will start looking then too. We make him 'find' his tennis ball by throwing somewhere in the yard then directing him to it with voice/hand commands. He kinda gets it. Rio is only 3 so could definitely be trained for it. The biggest problem with him is his ADHD - he'd be on a shed one second and next thing you know SQUIRREL and he's gone!!

Off topic, but where do you hunt for morels? I mean what areas do they grow on? I am hoping to get out and find a few this year if I can since that is the only shroom I can identify safely. Any others I buy in a store.
