Old man ... Sorry to hear! I worked with a gal who wound up in the hospital for a couple weeks. Don't remember exactly why just that she had shingles.

I never knew shingles could be so painful in locations other than the blistering site itself. Doctor said I have the classic symptoms and gave me an Rx for a dark blue horsepill to take three times a day. It will kill the virus in six to seven days. I'm off work on complete rest for a week, possibly two.

It takes 72 hours to incubate into shigles. I did not get the shots because I could not afford them at $300 a pop. and there were two of them pre covid. Then no one was open to give the shots, then they were $600 ea.

Get the shots! Doc said the shots, unlike COVID, are 95% effective at preventing Shingles and again reducing the severity if you get it.
I had the shingles took the blue horse pills and some strong cortico steroids, and yeah they hurt like hell as I had it on my head. I would not recommend the steroids as they weaken the immune system. I went from shingles directly into Covid last year

Good luck on the issue of shingles. I remember my dad having them for around his chest that tapered from a point near his sternum under his rt Breast area to about 6"wide on his ribcage and wrapping around there to a point near his back just under his ribcage. It was the meanest looking rash I'd EVER seen until years later the exact same rash showed up on me and I'd have traded everything I own + my virginity to be rid of it. You're on my prayer list.

Hope the best for you OP. About two months ago my GF thought she had gotten into poision Ivy working my flower beds. Nope, turns out she had Shingles, and it was nasty. Her Dr. gave her meds and it was mostly cleared up in about a week but still painful for about a month. He suggested she wait 3-4 months and get the shots. I decided I probably should get the shots also. Interestingly, this morning she called the drug department of our local W-M to find out if we needed a prescription to get the shots and what the cost would be. They stated we did not need a prescription and Medicare ( both of us are on Medicare) would pay for it.

Guess we need to do more checking about the cost. Hope yours is short lived and minimal pain.

Weird. Today my symptoms have been many, besides I have pressure, but cannot start a urine stream. I called the doc who said it wasn't the shingles, it was my prostate and gave me Flomax. I took one and can dribble a bit now.
Yesterday and last night were horrid. The night before last, I had bad internal leg pain and could not sleep but a few hours at a time. It has migrated to my chest and back and I have severe shakes like a fever with no fever. I'm having chills and the pain is sharp now but under my right arm.

I asked the doctor if it was a blood clot and he said no. I'm wondering why the pain is migrating then. The rashes have spread just a small area but in spots, not in a large area like others have described.
Calamine has been a Godsend for this!

I just took my last pain pill half and my sleepy by pills so I'll be back in a few hours. 🙁 :anyone:

I have a lot of experience with urologists. They get lots of things wrong and often disagree while both being specialists. I wouldn’t assume prostate if your issues just started. Could be anything. You could have shingles and a stone. Could be inflammation. I can say, sit down to pee. It’ll put pressure on things and you can get more out. Stay hydrated. Don’t drink carbonated things and maybe take some of those cranberry pills. Help stop bacteria from holding on when you can’t flush it out.
