They're not closing though. Do you have to turn them in if you just let your license expire? Does Walmart have to have a license for every store?

As I understand it if you don't renew (i.e. close FFL business) you have to turn everything in . . . address on license must match location of transaction. So each Walmart location that sells guns should have it's on FFL.

In the Mid 90's Treasury Under Secretary for Enforcement Ronald Noble started a project to digitize all archived 4473's. When that program was exposed he was encouraged to work elsewhere. At that time 25 years ago the law specifically prohibited copying in any form those records. Also at the time there was a question if ATF could even keep the records beyond 20 years. FFL holders were allowed by law after 20 years to destroy the forms. It was thought that ATF could do the same.

Noble left Treasury and went to Interpol and the whole matter moved out the spotlight.

Wonder if that law has been changed?
