The extra cost of the diesel engine, diesel fuel, and the 3/4 ton or 1 ton trucks in which it is equipped make it tough make up the 2 mpg gain you've gotten. This from someone who thinks a diesel hilux would be an awesome addition to the US market.

I ended up going the way that CHARD went. Traded the Frontier for an F150 Supercrew 4x4 5.0. The initial investment was of course greater by about 5k$, but the ride comfort, room, and capability are worth it. The mpg's are about the same or just a little higher with the F150.

283,000 on my 95 toyota tacoma, 6 cylinder extended cab 4WD SR5 Auto. Finally going to have to change the fan belt this week. Four sets of brake pads and one set of rotors is all the maintenance that has been done.
When it dies, it goes into the ditch and I'll walk away knowing it owes me nothing. I'll buy another Toyota.

My father-in-law has an '05 Frontier V6 crew cab and in the 2 years he's had it I haven't heard of a single problem with it. It's fun to drive and he gets around 20MPG depending on his driving. I've considered getting one but I don't need a truck (and I can always borrow his).

It would be so amazing, if they make trucks like they make tractors I'd actually be interested in an import for once!

This is what I'm used to seeing out of Toyota trucks. They have the reputation they do for a reason. You probably have people asking when you're going to sell it too.
