Couldn't you get about the same mileage in a Honda Civic and have room for more than one passenger?
My wife drives from Vinita to Tulsa several times a week with her job and she loves her little Smart car. Using good quality gas, it gets 52 mpg on it's best days but, averages 48 mpg...

Yes, the Smart car is small but, I'm 6'3" and 250 lbs and there is plenty of room in the car for me....

No, and the Smart has as much room as a civic. I can haul 8 bags of groceries, me (6'2", 230 lbs) and another adult of equal size. The smart is faster than most minivans. I haul my smart sideways on a carrier behind my rv.
How can a Smart car have as much room as a Civic if it only has one passenger seat and the Civic has room for three passengers plus a trunk?
The EPA estimated gas mileage for the Civic is 26/34 and 33/41 for the Smart car, so I guess the Smart car has an advantage there. That and I guess it would be easier to haul behind an RV.

I had a 2000 Honda Civic HX 5 spd. They were rated @ 35 or 37 city and 43mpg. hwy. The best I ever got was 47 mpg. The car could also go about 115 mph. I would not want to be in an accident with one though. They sold for about $14,100 back in 2000.
