Smarts have a higher crash test rating than a f150.
Interesting, what part of the project did you work on? I hear that was a pretty big project out there.
It was a huge project out at FAA. I was Task Supervisor over the voucher approvals.
Where can I read that study? I'm being serious - I'm not calling you out. I have seen similar claims made but I've never been able to read it myself and I would like to because I really don't see how that can be. I know trucks are dangerous compared to a well designed car but I can't think of any MVA scenario where I'd rather be in a Smart car than my F-150. Head on, rear-ended, broad-sided, roll-over(might be questionable - I have seen some truck cabs collapse pretty bad). Just the the elevation of the Smart car is scary, you get hit by any full size truck in one of those things and the bumper is windshield level, it's like when I drove a Camaro(which was scary in some ways too) except there's less material on all all sides.
I'd really like to see the tests that prompted them to make that statement.
I look at several thousand wrecked cars every week. Almost every smartcar I see, you can barely recognize what you are looking at.
I see lots of f-150's also and most of them are still driveable.
I see, were you brought in as a contractor? There is not doubt that we had to activate a ton of new users during that time for the vouchers approvals.

And that first one was under 40 mph if I remember right. The only way they earned that 4 star rating was comparing it to golf carts or quads. Something is fishy...

Somebody should snopes that pic, if memory serves me that's not even a smart car. And given the size, weight & build of the vehicles on both sides in that scenario you're screwed regardless, you could be driving 60's model Impala and you'd prolly still be dead.
