It's funny to read all of the "don't want to be in anything but a school bus" when it come comes to crashes comments; doesn't anyone figure that the car companies have also had that very thought cross their minds (since they'll be liable for lawsuits)? Most smaller cars I've kind of been interested in have very good crash ratings - and it's for a reason.

So even thought the Smart is not for me, I won't knock it. It's not any more ridiculous than all of the mini-Peterbilts guys feel like they have to have for a commuter vehicle, as far as I'm concerned.

I don't car how well engineered they may be, physics are physics and mass x velocity of the smart car is going to be less than 99% of other vehicles you are likely to encounter. Thus smartypants, you lose.

This may not be a smart car but a larger vehicle wouldn't have submarined under the truck like the go cart did. This is why my family rides in larger vehicles.
