Cool site. Done a little digging out there. This Terrier will hopefully be the end of my gun-purchasing rampage, at least for a bit. I still blame my brother on my quest to get an I frame. It's all his fault. But I have ended up with some darn cool snubs in classic, old school calibers that are a blast to shoot.

Now if you want the ultimate J-frame, you need to look for an original Chiefs Special early production, first year, because it has the same trigger guard as the Terrier, but with the lengthened frame.

OH Yeah! Then there are all the different barrel lengths, adjustable sight models in 2" and 3", both bull and standard barrels. I mean if your gonna go J-Frame crazy, you gotta have one of each!!!!!! But do stay away from the magnum calibers, the J-frame just wasn't meant for that.

Yeah, I agree. A Magnum chambered J frame is sorta like sacrilege or something.

I always thought collecting J frames would be easier than K's or N's, because there are so many variants of the K's and so many different calibers of the N's. I thought, "with the J frames, basically you only have three styles: Chief's Specials, Centennials and Bodyguards...right?"

WRONG!

Like you said, you not only have blued, nickel and stainless J's, but you also have the Airweights, the Magnums and the 3 inchers to deal with!

As you stated, its a hard road with no end in sight. Starting with the I-Frame guns(The original Lady-Smith's) all the way up to the modern items prior to the lock. It covers hundreds of models. One of the coolest to me is the Model 63 with a 2"bbl and adjustable sights, perfect little woods gun. Then there is the 60-1 with 2"bbl and adjustable sights, or the 36 with 3"bbl (Not Bull) with adjustable sights and square butt frame. Then you have the models 30 and 31, both with 4", 3", 2"bbl in either square or round butt configuration.

I had a 442 with the lock last year. It was a cool little snub, but I just couldn't deal with the lock.

I dunno...I guess that's the traditionalist in me. I feel the same way about the lock as I do Magnum J frames.

don't blame me! its not my fault that you can't handle addictions.btw put some crimson trace on the model 37 last night.thats darn cool.snubs need lasers!

That's a pretty good read. A little LONG but worthy of reading nonetheless.

I've always said that I considered +P ammo to be a waste of time and money. I think a standard .38 Special load, especially in a "get off me gun" like the ever popular snubbie, is sufficient.

If I were still totin' a K frame on duty, I MIGHT stoke it with +P ammo. I dunno.
