OK..just for the heck it I'm going to change gears. You're right, he got what he deserved. He told her he cheated on her. What a complete stupid-a$$. Why not just say you want to part ways? Is it necessary to tell the person you stabbed them in the back on the way out. She should have beat the hell out of him...at least make the A&B worth going to jail for. I hate traitors, and a cheater is a traitor.
BTW - unmarried = no commitment, that is why people remain unmarried. Therefore there was no cheating in any meaningful sense - she should have walked out or thrown him out not hit him - he, for his part, should have left without calling the cops. If I were in his shoes, I don't think I could look myself in the face in the mirror to shave.

Naw, nobody on the forum would want the tax returns.... but her defense attorney will be wanting to see them so he can set his fee.
If it gets too expensive, you might have to saw that branch off-of the family tree.
You must also consider that he very well could have (definitely should have) called the cops to protect himself from possible false allegations.
I mean, it was obviously a volatile issue that had already turned violent.

I absolutely think he did the right thing and calling him a 'pansy' for doing so is not only utterly ridiculous, but also a clear indicator (as others have mentioned) that you are wantonly allowing emotion to outweigh logic due to the fact that you have a personal relationship with the female.
*I* am amazed though at how quick people are to denegrate, call, and/or imply all women are mentally or emotionally deficient particularly regarding issues of rationality......and all while doing absolutely nothing (but the exact opposite) to set an example as proof that men are indeed superior.
And BTW...
IMO you should immediately abandon the whole "tiny little slap" argument.
The cops generally look primarily for physical marking when making these types of determinations...and there were marks...clear indicators of physical violence.
You might consider yourself lucky, remember women might get away with murder if they just say they're abused, my ex reminded me of that a lot when she wanted her way no matter what.

[Mary Winkler, the Tennessee woman who shot her minister husband to death while he slept, was released back into society this week after serving just 67 days, most of it in a prison hospital.
You had a preacher, who by all accounts was loved in his community, who was shot in the back while he slept. You have a woman who says she was abused with no history, no shred of evidence.
Mary Winklers attorneys claimed that she was beaten by her husband. She said at her trial that he made her watch pornographic videos and wear slutty outfits for sex. She said he was controlling and criticized her constantly.
At the time of the killing, the couple had been having arguments about their finances. Prosecutors introduced evidence that Mary Winkler had gotten involved in an online Nigerian check-kiting fraud and had written checks for thousands of dollars. That, the prosecution argued, was the real source of the friction in the marriage.
But the defense said there had been continuing abuse.
