Get her a good lawyer. Hopefully, the DA will decline charges or the judge will dismiss. Alternatively, maybe she can get a deferred sentence and it will be off her record and gone in a year or so.

The unfortunate truth is that there are women who use the whole domestic violence issue as a way to exact revenge on their partners. In an effort to protect true victims of DV, the police and the legal system are overly broad in their definition. Part of the reason is that in the past the situations escalated and the women were brutalized and/or murdered, this is after police had been out. So, a zero tolerance policy has come into effect.

I understand all that and I don't disagree. But that's not where this thread originated. It was kind of taken off track by the few.

The whole basis of the thead was the fact that I thought this guy was a flaming girl scout pansy because he called the cops on a minor, single hand slap to the back. People were in the house. People witnessed what happened. There is no history of abuse from either party. The cops were professional in their response and the did what they had to do. That doesn't mean I have to like it. I said sometimes I don't like the justice sytem, and I'm sure many here have had the same thought.

Was it a dumb thing to do? Yes. Does she regret it? Sure. But have you ever met a rational scorned woman in the discovery of another woman? Or for that matter a rational one at all? :-)

I am amazed though at how quick people are to denegrate and call women they don't know names. Well ... maybe I'm not.
