So, I was at work this morning and I got a weird pain in my chest and started coughing up blood.
I called my doctor and asked his advice. I've had some past experience with this, so I wanted his advice before I went off. He said to head to the ER at Baptist.
I have to tell you, they didn't waste any time the moment I mentioned chest pain. they had an IV in, put me on oxygen, gave me nitroglycerin and aspirin and some other crap within 15 minutes of arrival. IV Steroids and benadryl so that I could do the contrast dye for the CT scan knocked me out for a while.
After chest x-ray and a CT scan and some more squirts of nitro, they figured out that I have pneumonia in my right lung. the coughing evidently caused a tear or something that caused the blood (and the pain, I guess. they didn't really address it after they found the pneumonia).
I've been sick for over two weeks after Mitch licked my neck when i wasn't looking. The upper respiratory infection morphed into this stupid pneumonia.
I haven't been able to participate in a full match in WEEKS and it's bugging the crap out of me.
I have to say, the worst thing about the whole ordeal was that the triage nurse had put some sticky patches on me for an EKG, then the cardiac nurse put some more on me for the heart monitor. Pulling those things off my brillo pad of a chest was worse than anything. Ripping of 16 well stuck patches was like a random waxing. I don't know how women handle that crap, it's definitely not for me.
Anyway, back to work tomorrow. Don't tell the doctor.
