We had a good class with about 10 people there taking it, some from the forum and some not. It was worth the time and money, so if the opportunity comes up again, and I suspect it will, you would be wise to take advantage of it. The instructor is in law enforcement and teaches firearms and stop the bleed classes at Wilshire Gun.

Apparently the closest stop the bleed classes are in the Dallas area, does anyone know of a local equivalent? I would like to hone my skills that I learned working trauma cases, when I'm all by my lonesome. Not going to have a team and a fully equipped trauma bay, if I have to use my knowledge in the field. Also like to put my son through one, so he has a clue. After all, it could be me with the hole, leaking red stuff. Thanks.

I had to go through the website to sign up for training, I prefer in person for this type of stuff. I have put together several kits, one for the range bag and one for the car. All of them have more than what you would find in a commercial kit, stuff I used in the hospital or things that I imagine would come in handy, in the field. Foam tape is one of them, we used that stuff for EVERYTHING. One thing I do need to add is a stethoscope to each kit, something better than the disposables but not as nice as the Littmann I carried at work. Have to do some searching and see what is available now.

Found a stethoscope and a sphygmomanometer (blood pressure cuff) to go with it. It helps that when I went through training back in the dark ages, we didn't have routine access to the automatic ones. Hell, I've even assisted with leech therapy!

You may contact emsa west division, or one of the aero medical providers in your area as well to see if they offer a class. The American Red Cross does them around Tulsa occasionally as well
