I have read a lot about this case and I am convinced they killed an innocent man.

I don't think so.

"This is not a capital case. I never had intended to do anything." I think he implies he committed the crime, but because he didn't "intend" to kill anyone, it wasn't premeditated and shouldn't have been a death penalty case, instead perhaps just imprisonment? I don't know, I haven't researched the facts of the case, that's just my take on his statement.

You could be right. I was just roaming through some and kind of read that one as an "I didn't do it" statement, but I can definitely see it your way.
