Perhaps I could take it as a serious protest if there was anything serious to take. An internet petition on a state trying to leave the union, right after losing an election is far from serious.

Perhaps they should go door to door to gather written signatures from citizens of Texas. Then submit that to
they're legislators and governor.

I geuss they dont teach that process in GOP school, but it doesnt surprise me.

I think I saw a guy on Hannity talking about doing just that. He said that the internet petition was meaningless in all reality. What they were wanting to do is get it to a vote of the people and I heard something about a non-binding resolution, but I didn't catch the whole interview. He was talking (correctly IMO) that the .gov is no longer a government of the people, but had changed into a socialist/communist type of government. His point was that he wanted the states to be free from the .gov's socialist controls or some damn thing. He didn't sound like some whacked out milita type at all.

The best part about this whole thing is how Rick Perry is getting himself in hot water by coming out and saying there is no way Texas will secede. He's getting torn up bigtime on news websites in Texas. He should have just kept his mouth shut and let the Obama regime give everyone in Texas the "Big NO".

Perry wants to be prez, of course he does not want to see Texas leave the union. Weird part is he just may have given the idea a bigger push then he would have if he had just said, we will consider the idea if enough Texans want it.

I'm not a betting man, but I would put money down that if you DID put it to a vote in Texas that you would find a majority willing to secede. It may be that it's a rediculous idea but Texans have always considered themselves a republic unto itself even after statehood.

I am a betting man. I bet Texas doesnt secede even if they vote on it. I'll pay your way into a SUPERDAVE or BADSHOT gunshow and spring for lunch, if it happens within 2 yrs.

Deal. If you win, remind me so that I can buy you the lunch (old age and memory or something like that...I dunno, I forgot)

I love this thread...

warning, I don't do grammar well, and I even have problems with spelling, oops deal with it.

At this point, and it may change who knows, my opinion of the petitions is simple. A group of people, angry and disillusioned or possibly feeling alone in their little piece of this world have found a way to prove to themselves that they are not, in fact, alone in their little piece of this world. With every "signature" those who created, or have previously "signed" are shown that there are others who feel the same way. I do not believe they were ever intended to do anything more than say to the public at large, "I'm saying something important" and then wait for others to bolster their own self confidence. At least it wasn't said with a sniper rifle, or a big truck in front of a federal building. I also salute them for finding a way to feel a part of a process that causes no harm to others. Our country was conceived, at a very basic level, in much the same way. (Conceived, not forged and hardened) I also believe that in no way any of those who started, or signed the petitions would agree with my opinion. oops they can deal with it... until or unless several things change for the "much worse" instead of being "worse" than "the good old days" we still have the glorious honor of calling ourselves the "United States of America"...

Back to loving this thread...
up north here, a few years back, a group of protesters were detained for protesting protesters...

some of you should not think about that too much as it will cause great pain
others should enjoy the laugh
you know which you are so I will let you decide for yourself if you are offended

reading this thread reminds me of that day...
carry on... that is all...

You know for what is basically just a peaceful protest, I am seeing a lot of butthurt from our lefty friends.

I'm not a lefty and I'm not butthurt. I'm commenting on a thread.

I'm not butthurt over a stupid Internet petition that means Jack and Sh$t in the grand Constitutional scheme, I just think its stupid and I'm using my 1st Amendment right to say so.

My point is, for all of our Constitutional warriors (not specifically you RickN), if you're serious why are you starting multiple threads about it, responding to threads about it and getting upset when people don't agree with you? Get off the Internet and get busy....maybe some of us will follow you...but probably not even as many as signed the petition in question.

If you can't handle a little Internet forum disagreement, you sure aren't going to hack it any sort of 'revolution' or revolt...whatever your fantasies involve.
