Ron Paul had a surprisingly calm and reasoned article about the flood of post-election secession petitions. Put aside the why of the recent petitions, and study the actual secession question. Why shouldn't a state be able to secede?

Why would the cartels go through an armed and committed Texas when they can go through a wide-open Arizona?

Oh, i thought Arizona was ceding too. What would happen if ALL the States ceded? What if we all just quit? Who would pay the feds debt? We could elect Romney then. We could get rid of all the free loaders. If every state ceded we could do whatever we wanted without the feds. We dont need no stinkin Union. If one state can cede, every state can.

With the signing of the Constitution, the Articles of Confederation became history and not the definitive law of this land. So "States Rights" are not an issue. The Constitution eliminates it.
