Fact. Spent a semester studying this in college. Not so sure about it being made up to scare white people part though...

We used to xray at a fab shop at Peoria and 244, that was 'supposedly' haunted by a few fellows that was killed unloading a truck back in the 40s. A lot of creeks, pops, and crap falling over. It could have been the steel expanding or contracting, but when the radio changes channels by itself and loud banging going on, something aint kosher. Occassionally you'd see somebody move from across the way and go check it out, but never find anybody. I worked with a guy from NOLA who said his relatives were into Voodoo, and that dude wouldn't go to that shop by himself for anything. When he did have to work out there eith another person, he'd open carry be jump as heck, and if the radios started changing channels, it was time to go.
