Have you ever notice thaty some gun owners have really short fuses? I'm a very diverse person when it comes to hobbies (scuba, auto racing, Offroad/Jeeping, RVing, bluegrass music, bee keeping, trophy fishing etc.) and the gun hobby is sole one that seems to include many that need to be in anger management. Do these types feel weak or inferior and the gun remedies their insecurity? Are there any on our board with a doctorate in the social studies?

That seems like a blanket statement to me. No where in there do I see you asking for other peoples experiences. You still did not answer the first part, or second for that matter, of my question. My suggestion is to go to a range, talk with people, and you will see that people who own guns are just like everyone else.

Hmm,besides collecting and shooting guns; I like to box, lift heavy weights, practice martial arts; drive my 4x4 around in the mud and ride motocross bikes with my kids on our land; watch boxing and MMA,extreme sports, football and all kinds of other pro and college sports; play tournaments on the highly aggressive pro table soccer tour; raise reptiles and arachnids and enjoy watching them eat other living creatures; and I play the guitar in a screamo extreme aggressive metal band for a living as well as punching little holes in peoples skin in my familys tattoo business.

Looking at the things that I do in my daily life and have done for many years it would seem that I may be an aggressive person on the outside looking in even if I wasnt a CC permit holder who legally carries a gun for protection and has knives in my pocket. Plus I have a raging case of OCD and ADHD and definitely have a Type A personality. But in reality,I'm think I'm pretty calm and sensitive,as are most of my friends. I like to relax creating art and music in my home studio.

I have alot of friends who are boxers, martial artists, pro fighters, pro football players, pro foosball players, aggro metalhead musicians, etcetc and I dont know that many people who are as aggressive as those folks. In contrast, the gun owners who Ive met while living in Oklahoma, they have been the opposite. Ive found most of the gun enthusiasts Ive met here while pursuing this gun 'hobby' to be some of the most level headed and educated people Ive ever met in my life.

Like a pitbull, its all in how you were raised if you turn out to be a hateful, aggressive, hothead. I just have never met those kinds of folks in the 'gun world'. Not saying theyre not out there,I just havent met any of them yet.

Being told I'm a stressed out passive-aggressive Bible Clinging gun toter on a short fuse stresses me out.

Keep saying it!

You are a stessed out passive aggressive Bible Clinging gun toter on a short fuse, and I mindlessly fling poop.

Oh this thread makes me miss 18deltasf as well. we had some good conversations via PM you just had to get around the rough edges.

Preparing to defend ones self is serious business,

Self says to me: well you might have to shoot this guy.
Me to self: well self we just need to stay in a lackadaisical disinterested mood so we aren't thought of as over aggressive angry gun owners
Self Says to me: You want to be a victim?
Me to self: Well no. Duh!
Self says to me: Well pull your head out of your @$$ and get mad at this jerk because he sure as hell hates the fact that you have something he wants and is planning on taking it.
Me to self: Well OK if you say so.

It's been my experience that gun owners are no more likely to have a short fuse than the general population or many other sub-groups. Sometimes our perception of groups can be influenced by subconscious biases...

Although your personnel experiences may indicate an increased instance of anger related issues among gun owners it is unlikely that those observations could be applied on a larger scale
