I don't have a short fuse but I am capable of getting p****d when I have to deal with an a*****e who is trying to screw me over. I rarely have that issue though. Perhaps if you are constantly surrounded by people who are p****d off you are the a*****e. That's just a hypothesis.

It seems that there are many gun owners on here who have interacted with other gun owners and haven't experienced the same pattern. Maybe the issue is not with gun owners. Maybe the issue is with you. BTW -- in Oklahoma it is probably safe to say that most contractors own guns. They probably own trucks too. Based on your logic you could easily make the same argument that most truck owners have a short fuse. I bet many have dogs as well. Yeah, people with dogs have a short fuse.

I dunno ... maybe we need to fire a warning shot into the coffee table before we give him one to the hip, eh? ;)

What! You would waste perfectly good ammo?:hellno: Now that makes me mad! :D:tounge:

:blahblah:

Mr. Ccpatrick, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

+1 and a :nutkick:

Have you ever notice thaty some gun owners have really short fuses? I'm a very diverse person when it comes to hobbies (scuba, auto racing, Offroad/Jeeping, RVing, bluegrass music, bee keeping, trophy fishing etc.) and the gun hobby is sole one that seems to include many that need to be in anger management. Do these types feel weak or inferior and the gun remedies their insecurity? Are there any on our board with a doctorate in the social studies?

I think you need to learn that words/phrases have specific meanings and you should not use one word/phrase when you mean another. Passive-aggressive behavior is not the same as an inability to control anger or emotions.

A doctorate in psychology is not required as the answer is as close as the search engine of your choice. Below is the WikiPedia description of passive-aggressive behaviors:

Passive–aggressive behavior, a personality trait, is passive, sometimes obstructionist resistance to following through with expectations in interpersonal or occupational situations. It is a personality trait marked by a pervasive pattern of negative attitudes and passive, usually disavowed resistance in interpersonal or occupational situations.

It can manifest itself as learned helplessness, procrastination, stubbornness, resentment, sullenness, or deliberate/repeated failure to accomplish requested tasks for which one is (often explicitly) responsible.

Thanks for being the first to actually address the topic instead of mindlessly flinging poo like a zoo primate. My experience is based on dealing with aggressive people who happen to be gun owners. A high percentage of "angry at life" people I meet just so happen to be gun owners. I actually use the gun reference to turn their anger into talking about their favorite weapon. A few minutes pass and they realize we have something in common, the tension recedes. I merely was curious if others found a correlation between agressive behavior and guns.

2 things. Well maybe a few things. Anyways.

I'm not sure you know what passive-aggressive behavior is, because I'm gathering from the context of what you are writing you are talking about something quite a bit different from passive-aggressive behavior.

Gun owners? This is Oklahoma. Even the majority of "anti-gunners" I've known in Oklahoma own at least one gun of some type. I think we are all issued a gun at birth. So that doesn't narrow it down at all.
As far as gun hobbyists, I'm not really into competitive shooting or anything, but I definitely would disagree that people active in the shooting sports have drastically different personality traits than non-shooters. In fact, I'd say that anyone with a passion for ANY hobby is probably happier and less pissed off at life than people without a hobby they love.

As far as being angry at life or pissed off all the time, that just describes a good deal of the population in general. Happiness is elusive to many people. I know way too many people who are "angry at life". I don't think there is any correlation between owning a gun or being a shooter.

Aren't most of us stressed all the time?

Probably.

Suckers! :D
