A new F150 costs more than my first house

I paid 15k for my first house, so it doesn’t take much gun or automobile to meet that criteria.

I’ve always dreamed of owning a double rifle in 470 Nitro Express. It would be of absolutely no use on this side of the pond. I keep telling myself that maybe one day a rabid circus elephant will escape……

They are trying to bring the wooly mammoth back, sooooooo .......

Our first house was $6900 in 1977. I haven't gotten any firearm that costs anywhere near that.


I would love to have a Ruger 96 in .357 mag and a 94 in .30 Carbine
A Marlin lever .357 Mag.
A lever gun (Browning, Marlin, Henry or Win) in .327Fed, with a Ruger Blackhawk.
A Marlin Guide gun in .460 S&W, .454 Casull, .45 Colt (ala S, L, LR) would be beyond cool.

Short or long barrel version,,,
I would love to own either one.

50 rounds of a sizzlin' hot cartridge,,,
Ejects to the bottom so no brass in your face,,,
I would consider this to be the perfect self defense weapon.

Even though I could afford the rifle,,,
I could never afford to feed the dang thing,,,
But that doesn't keep me from wanting to own one.

But a fun alternative in the "Silly" category would be,,,
A Ruger 10/22 in this Faux P90 stock.

I could afford to feed this,,,
And I could go to the range and pretend to hunt Wraith,,,
Just like my hero Colonel John Shepard in the Stargate: Atlantis TV series.

I didn't know about it either,,,
Until a member posted about it here.

I Googled it and the website said,,,
It was only for 18" barrels or longer ones.

If you use a standard 16.5" barrel,,,
The entire rifle is too short for ATF regulations.

Still, find a beater 10/22 for the cheapest price you can,,,
Mount the cheapest 18" bull barrel you can find,,,
And go "hunt some wraith".

I bought my first house in 2006. It wasn’t much, but it was paid for.

$18K for my first home. Can’t even buy a good used car for much less than that that’s not junk.

We've seen the Lust for Luster but how about stuff from the Butcher Shop. Here I have what I call the TEXAS RANGER TACTICAL RIFLE. I purchased this Winch '94 from a coworker for $75 rusted with a badly water stained stock. Took it apart, cleaned it up, stripped and sun bleached the stock with bleach water to resurrect this furniture from hell, then oil finished to a naturally well used patina to match the nearly silver sided receiver. Didn't like the factory sight so with no rail available I modified a weaver type base for a Marlin. About 7 hours of hand sanding with different socket sizes wrapped in sand paper to meet the flare and contour of the chamber to barrel portion and it would be topped w a simple Bushnell Trophy. Eye alignment from padded cheek and pill holder finished it off. My son first took a deer with it 14yrs ago and I've poked a couple yotes and a nice buck on the Washita River with it. I regurlarly take it as a backup gun deer hunting and I use as a primary on canoe hunts. Actions old, loose, sloppy but it locks up good and is stupid accurate with cheap Federal 150's. Not afraid of a 200yd shot with this one.
