My impression was it was never decomissioned, but, I was wrong and it was stricken in 1942 (or 1944 depending on what you read) and effectively became a cemetery, pretty much putting the name up for grabs according to rule books....but my entire life, and for 18yrs prior, there has been only one USS Arizona to my knowledge, and strange that this should change now.Since it’s an actual memorial I feel it should be left alone. The only one.
I talked to a recruiter and tried to get onboard as a plank owner , but was told I was too old.
Yes Sir.I didn't know about an honorary plank owner. My Dad was a plank owner on the USS Iowa, but it wasn't because of a donation.
