I own a Krebs, and I love it, it isn't light...but it's built very well, accurate, has a great trigger and rails for an optic. It's what I would call a good AK...not cheap...but then again you get what you pay for and most people drop as much on a decent AR.

Unless you can find/afford a Polytech or an early Russian AK, It will be very hard to beat a Norinco AK.
Better trigger, heavier receivers, chrome lined and I think they had a bit heavier barrel. Chinese guns are really good guns.

Now, on a new gun I would agree with several previous posters about the AMD65 TGI AK's.
They are an excellent buy right now at around $410 delivered. Some people do not like the cheak weld with the wire stock and the sight radius is shorter.

May father has a Norinco MAK 90 Sporter, milled receiver.

It's been great and fit/finish are better than most AKs I've seen (remember, they are AKs though ;) )
