I wouldn't buy one right now if i didn't already have ammo stacked deep, especially since 7.62x39 currently cost more than 223/5.56 .
That said, if you have an AR and you don't mind building an 7.62x39 upper, build one in 7.62X39, built with the appropriate part,s and mags, and have fun with it.
Very fun to shoot and plenty accurate. Sold my CZ bolt action in 7.62x39 because my x39 AR shot better.
Also, I think PSA is making 7.62x39 ammo, the AAC line.

Wow, hard to believe…
From the CZ-USA website;
“Built to CIP specifications, our 7.62×39 chambers are ideal for shooting steel-cased surplus ammo. Designed to shoot .311 bullets, some American brass ammo may not perform as well as the imported steel-cased variety because of SAAMI brass dimensions and varying bullet diameters.”

Yeah, I had used probably atleast 5 or 6 different brands of ammo, some steel case import and some US made ammo, none of them shot better than the x39 AR with any of the same various ammos.
It was baffling but just not worth keeping for me to enjoy.

Looking for some input. I've been saving some money for a bit to buy my first AK. The frontrunners are the KUSA KR103 and the Zastava ZPAP M70. I've been watching a lot of videos on the subject and one youtuber whose opinion I value is Small Arms Solutions. He got me thinking that maybe I should get one in 5.56 since Russian ammo supplies are running dry, and currently prices for 7.62x39 are higher than 5.56 and looks like it could stay that way.
Only for shooting critters off your front porch.

I bought a CMMG MK47 around 2015. It has been slightly customized and runs very smoothly and very fast. Has been very reliable using the cheapest ammo I could find. I think its worth having however, ammo is getting harder to find at a good price. So for now it stays zeroed and in the safe unless I need it. Hopefully ammo will become a little easier to come by. If it gets to be like 308 ball prices then maybe I’ll sell it and abandon the 762X39.
