I’ve always heard not to use steel cased ammo in a mini 14/30 because the hard primers can break the firing pins, which need to be hand fit. That said I can understand why you would in a mini 30 considering how expensive brass 7.62x39 is. That’s the reason why I opted for a 14 myself.

I actually want to find a 762x39 bolt gun. It just needs to be able to shoot steel case reliably.
The CZ527 i think is built to fire import steel case ammo.
I couldn't get mine to shoot worth a crap so It went down the road, my AR's in 7.62x39 shot smaller groups than I could get the CZ to shoot.

Edit;I see the above posters say the CZ has been discontinued. Good luck

So basically this means the 500 series is better and more desirable than the 600 series because it is older? Us ancient guys tend to think so 😉

Wife says fine wine and whiskey are better with age! Gotta keep her around!

Howa makes their mini action in 7.62x39, i ditched the factory tupperware & stuck one in a stocky's carbon fiber handle...very light, guessing maybe 6 lbs scoped. With CFE-Blk, it was averaging a touch over 2500fps with 123gr bullets. Have helped some pigs achieve their expiration date with that combo a few times, and have grown to like it quite a lot....but never shot steel cased ammo through it.

Been pretty tempted on the CZ600's, and those have been on gunbroker had those the last couple of weeks for $399...dont need another one, but still tempted anyway.

Nice!
When my youngest boy was about ten I bought one of the mini-Mausers from Yugoslavia. Just the barreled action, built a nice laminated stock for it, topped it with a 2x7 Leupold. Alex killed pigs and deer with that until he outgrew it. I took it out a few years ago and killed a couple does before selling the rig to another member here. I was running a 125 grain Sierra over some IMR powder usually burned in 30-30. Fun little gun, but too short for a grown man.
