On the 3 am thing. Several reasons for that. First, you got to get up a lot earlier in the summer than in the winter. Second, pigs are more nocturnal (less diurnal) than deer, so you need to be in place before first light. Third, it was gonna be (and was) a hunt that was over by 8:30 am due to the heat - in that event, you gotta make hay while the sun shines (or actually doesn't shine, but is just coming up during 'prime time'). It's a "half day" hunt, if you wanna call it even that. Finally, had to drive over an hour to get to the place.
