Pulled them to install new lifters. Gm is known for lifter failures, and while mine has made it this far, the heavier pressure springs will probably finish them off!
147k miles, 85yr old man bought truck new. Don’t think it ever seen 5k

I hear about cam bearing issues often with the LS engines.
I see a lot of trashed LS cams come into the cam shop also.
here is a good read on that issue.

@SPDguns
I know a good tuner local to us.
I think a lot of failures is due to lack of good anti friction additives in the oil.
Roller cam or not I want my good oil VR1 silver bottle or Driven brand oil for hot rod or their LS engine oil.
Yep. VR1 silver bottle hands down best protection for the money.
I add a little of MELLUBE(part number M10012) every oil change as well.

I'll be in touch. I think I'm fixing to get stupid with my '09 6.0 Silverado.....
Who is doing your tune?
I’ve been tuning since 2001, probably well over 800 cars under my belt. I really can’t stand dealing with most car people these days so I don’t advertise services for hire, but back before this new generation of car people, I did a lot of engines, tunes, custom fab and exhaust, stereos, etc.

I run Castrol synthetic 5w30 and did the Melling performance pump with 10% more pressure. I was extremely impressed with how good my engine looked on the tear down. All 16 lifters had perfect wear patterns, bearings looked good, and no issues with any internals. It took me 3 months to find a 1 owner truck with maintenance records, but I’m glad I was patient. If I can get another 50k out of this truck problem free, I will be a happy camper. This thing cost me a bit up front with needing new shocks/struts, fluids, and my OCD with having to over maintain everything and always replace it with better parts, but I’m really happy with it now.

Before I got out of the performance industry about 15 years ago, we were on the start of the “I can do it myself and watch YouTube videos”, which I think is where a lot of these issues come from. People aren’t technicians anymore, nor able to troubleshoot actual problems, so they just ask on forums what to do, from others with the same online based knowledge, and it’s the blind leading the blind. There is a stark difference between replacing parts by watching a video, and actually understanding how the parts work and installing new stuff as needed.

I got the driver side all assembled and bolted up today, front is back together, and just need to get the pass head back on. My new radiator showed up today so I will probably get the blower started Tuesday or Wednesday. I’m trying to pace myself so I don’t get sore, or end up wanting to avoid working on it… all in all I have about 10 hours in it so far, and that’s spending a lot of time cleaning the parts I’m reusing.

Coming nicely along. I enjoy the photos and hearing of progress. Over the years quite a few members has taken on projects and we get to see them to fruition.
I used to be more active on Instagram and YouTube. I have a few track videos still up, my Audi was my recent fast car and went 10.2@136
