The following is a snipit from an IM conversation I had on this very subject today. Some people simply do not get it. And they vote...

Yeah...like 80+ mile an hour winds, pounding rain and flooding. I just can't imagine how a mother would explain "daddy's not coming home" because someone thought it was more important for him to march in a hurricane than to get out of the rain and be with his family. Seriously...cannot wrap my head around the "honor" part of something that seems to me to be so ridiculous.
And the fact that people seem to be so caught up in emotional patriotism of it all...even my friends who are like-minded politically with me...I just do not understand.
Don't get me wrong...it isn't that I wouldn't LIKE to understand...because I really would like to "get it"...I just don't. In your spare time - ha - feel free to try to explain it to me.

Patriotism and duty at its best. My mom was able to take my grandpa to the memorials in DC before he became unable to travel, he served in Korea as a tank driver(one of the only warm places to be in the winter). They both said the experience was incredible.

You should really do it Dennis.
I was fortunate to have taken my USMC school in Quantico and we rode the Amtrack up to DC pretty often.
So many amazing things to see.

With my trip to Alaska this year, I've made all 50 states.
I was in Virginia for a short time, but never had time to get over there. Its on my bucket list. I could spend days in the Smithsonian, but I'd have to do it on my own. I'm a history buff, but the wife isn't.

Let me get this straight. You think that the Honor Guard should go home when it rains? I have a lot more to say about this, but I want to make sure I'm reading this correctly.

Veggi Meat, thanks for the video's.
