reset the door travle, release emg handle,rise the door all the way up, reengage the emg handle, close the the door with power .
He said with a load on the screw the motor runs but the screw doesn't turn. With no load on the screw, the motor runs and the screw turns. The problem is in the clutch coupling between the motor and screw. I have 3 screw type Genie openers and they have all required periodic clutch tension adjustments as they age over time. If the attachment or screw is stripped the screw would turn all the time.
It could be the wall of the garage shifted in the heavy rains and its not in plumb.
