I was thinking of buying a Ford SVT Raptor pickup, but I wasn't sure if it was rated for Tulsa roads. :(

Nah, not worth it since you'd never be able to get it up to speed. I suppose one would probably handle well enough to slalom through all the construction barrels but due to traffic you'd probably only get up to about 15 mph. :burnout:

I'm considering an invention that would sell like hotcakes in Oklahoma.

Retractable construction cones. Instead of the little reflectors glued to the road between the lanes, have a orange cone that has a reflector on top. Just hit a button, and *thwack!* Instant orange construction cone!

Just think, they could put every single road in OK under construction to install them, and then declare any road in OK a construction zone instantly and remotely. Think of all the money they would save not paying road crews to put out and pick up cones!

I've gotten to saying that Oklahoma owns half the world's orange cones, and 90% of those are out on the roadway at any given time. They never put them away, just shuffle them from one road to another.

I think you're on to something here...

Definitely correct about the 90% cone shuffle too!

It's all about the budget. If there is A LOT of construction that needs to be funded, people can ask for money for it. It's hard to ask for more money next year than this year, so they keep the budget up by wasting money. I see this at the end of every fiscal year in my AF unit. "We" start buying stupid stuff just so we can keep our higher budget. Every program that receives government money runs like this.

Harvard is down to one lane from the BA going south to 41st too.

Makes everyone's drive home from the down town area a complete nightmare

And they've closed the Eastbound BA entrance ramps at Harvard and Yale... I can understand the Harvard closure since its dumps you onto the BA right before the bridge that is being repaired.. but the Yale Entrance?? WTF is that about, you're 3/4ths of a mile past the bridge repairs at that point?

I thoroughly despise the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. Not the workers that have to put their lifes on the line out there in traffic but the ones who plan and schedule which jobs. No person in their right mind would have construction on every major road going through Tulsa. I have to drive from south Broken Arrow to Downtown and back everyday of the week and its really getting annoying. No matter which way you go theres gridlock.
