We design for 30 years. Sometimes we miss the mark.
hahah how does tossing gravel/tar into the potholes work in that 30 year plan? Id venture to say the roads don't even make half that. The streets are so half assed its not even funny. I can't even enjoy my cars because odot clowns and their "30 year roads". I think the 30 year part is how often maintenance is done on them............

They won't, but they should.

I'm thoroughly convinced that the ODOT and the legislature has been negligent in their responsibilities. This mess isn't the poor dumb engineer's fault, it's the fault of the people that withheld the money to make the upgrades years ago and then it's the fault of the ODOT for starting all of the projects at once. "The money's going to expire", that's the dumbest excuse ever.

Clay can make all of the excuses for the ODOT that he wishes, but the doesn't change the fact that those tards screwed the pooch.
Classy as always

lmmfao...no a pothole patch would not be a 30 year design. A new full depth road is designed to last for 30 years. US 69 was built in the 60s, it has help up relatively well for 50 some years. There are countless other examples.

I tried the BA westbound this morning. It wasn't too bad other than the a-holes weaseling around on the left side. If you are an a-hole weaseling around on the left side and someone is giving you a thumbs down out the car window, it's probably me.

Thumbs up to the blockers who get in the closed lanes and block the jerks who are trying to bypass the whole line. The delay is 10-15 mins, the blood pressure spike is the difficulty.
Eastbound is a whole nother cluster....

I live near 121st & Mingo and my wife works across from USSA on 66th St North & Sheridan. To get home this evening she had to detour through Sand Springs and catch the turnpike in Sapulpa. She had some kind words for the ODOT, especially when I told her about this thread and the "road designer" defending the decision to put every single expressway in Tulsa under construction at once.

The people that made these decisions need to lose their jobs. The decisions are irresponsible and puts undue stress on the public. Oh well, Obama was able to put more illegals to work and line the pockets of a few dozen contractors.

I'd love to see these ODOT decision makers try to make a living in the private sector.

My route home today was almost comical. Left downtown headed east. Traffic on the BA was getting thick so I exited at 15th. Went all the way to Memorial and was going to head south and get back on the BA past the screw-up construction zone. Traffic on Memorial was no bueno so I jumped on I44 figuring I could get on 169 South. Finally said F it and took 244 to the Creek and then over to east BA where I live.

The vast majority of them do leave and go to private engineering firms...and double their salary.

You all should attend the many public meetings that are held for various projects to better understand and have an opportunity to voice concerns and ask questions. We almost always hold a public meeting on large projects that will have great impact on our driving communities.
