Road work in Tulsa could make a union proud, 6 month job lasting 36 months. I remember when I-70 went into the mountians at Denver , they were opening new road each month , none of this work a month ,stop for a month - the dirt crew was being followed by the drainage crew who was followed by the road bed crew ,who was followed by the praving crew ,all in the SAME MONTH. How many YEARS has I-40 in Tulsa been under construction ? They work it for Five years and come back after six months and start another phase for another Five Years !

Why aren't they working night and day to get the BA back up!!!?? I drive the damn thing everyday and if there isn't a homicidal road rage incident before it's over I'll be shocked.
We are boxed in. They are totally replacing parts of east 244 with concrete deck (down to 1 lane), BA down to 1 lane each direction, can't take riverside to I44 (RS 1 lane), Creek being widened (why?).
I agree the planner should be relagated to street sweeper.

Some coworkers and I were just talking about the topic of working on the BA around the clock. They have done repairs on 169 and worked at night. And now we have the BA down to one lane and why are they not doing the same?!? I know there are houses right next to BA but there are on 169 too. Whoever planned all this simultaneous road construction is completely ate up with the dumbass.

I drive to that god damned hell hole of a town an average of once a month. Every time I go, I end up driving around the highway system like a retarded animal. It feels like I'm navigating in a non-English speaking foreign country. I carry a bottle containing ibuprofen and naproxin in my shooting bag so I can take some of each no matter where I am.

Tulsa... maybe they tore all the roads up at one time so they will all need a rebuild at the same time later ... and they should all be obsolete (overburdended) at the same point in the future.

Do it for the children.

OK has some very nice State highways... there must be some forumula that says the less there is to see- the better the pavement is. North, South, East or West.... there is a great, all weather high speed road that carries autos from one dead or dying failed boom town to the next.

I'd take exception to that... if the DOT contractors paid scale they would move these projects forward faster. Pay half as much....take twice and long and the contractor still gets rich because his bid price is still high enough to make profits.

When some of the tasks are done out of order requiring rework before the work advanced or whatever the back tracking is ...I always have to ask... "where is the kickback money going?"

Granted, road work is complicated... but the Project managment is were your time (and profits) are made or lost.
