Go drive I-40 east of Shawnee all the way to AR. Its almost all been reconstructed to full depth and its a 30 year pavement design and rides very nice. I hear I-40 west is also about all done but I havent been out that way to know.
At just around 4.5 million dollars per mile to do this on a 4 lane divided section, this is a huge accomplishment.
Tulsa is another issue because it has grown faster than any long term plan had foreseen. We deal with it best we can and we are playing catch up with it.
Dont hate on us though. We have to drive these same roads and are well aware of their condition.

We at ODOT really do know what we are doing.

we are also restricted by the funding and politics day to day.

Maybe that's why MODOT does such a better job than ODOT. They have seemed to work through all the BS you claim causes every major highway to be torn up at the SAME time. Maybe if the morons at ODOT realized you could repair a few bridges at a time instead of closing 10 miles of highway at a time, people would be more understanding.

It all boils down to this, Clay, it's hard to come up with excuses for why dumbDOT does what they do when every surrounding State does a far better job at doing the same thing. Maybe it's time for a leadership change if the current leaders are so bogged down with politics.

This seems a little harsh. Perhaps ODOT has gone to other regional state DOT's and either implemented some of the more effective measures they use to have better roads than us, or there's a specific reason they have better roads than us?

If ODOT had gone to the other States and implemented more effective measures, I don't think we would be complaining.

No you don't drive in our situation every day. My wife is an adjunct professor at TCC west and her Job is in broken arrow. She canceled class twice last semester because she could not get to school even after leaving her Job 2 hours early. Tulsa can barely handle 1 crosstown wreck during rush hour when we weren't under construction and now every east/west route is horribly congested because they are all under construction. And if we do such a good job why were there crews cutting pieces out of brand new bridge/road surface on I44 last weekend and pouring new sections in?

ODOT is a joke, as matter of fact all of OKlahoma's roads are a joke. We have to pay to get out of this state just about any direction you want to go from Tulsa, and the toll roads are worse then secondary highways in other states.

I understand ODOT is not to blame for all of it we have state laws that allow for diversion of tax funds slated for infrastructure but this is BS.

My family refer to that bridge as "roller coaster bridge"... I remember heading over that bridge when it was first built. I was in my 72 Monte Carlo with piss poor shocks. I literally thought I was going to bounce off the bridge. Shortly after, the bridge was on the news.

Yes that's an embarrassment for sure. It was the contractor who screwed that up...and Turnpike authority who designed it, not ODOT. There's another just lime it on the new turnpike north of Yukon.
