My grandfather brought it to the states when he came home from Korea. I’ve seen it many times in my youth but never seen it fire in my 51 years. My parents are bringing it to me later today. Pretty sure it’s an Arisaka type 99 from my memory.

I’ll post pics but I’ve enjoyed learning about them.

How did he come about acquiring it? My uncle was in the USN, Korean war vet. He said they alerted every one in his unit to come up to the deck and see if they wanted any war souvenirs from Japan. He said there was a pile of rifles as big as a house. All the guys looked them over, some took one or two, some didn't. Don didn't, said they looked like junk to him. Once all on board had had a chance to get something a small dozer pushed the whole pile off the side into the sea.
