That's another thing about the turret press. You can use it like a "semi-progressive" if you want to. Or not, it doesn't care either way. If I had just put a little thought into it I would have had one years earlier.

Edit: Either way Huntersworld, you need to plan on having a single stage too. They are just too handy for working up loads before going all out on your Dillon, small batches, prepping brass, etc. I keep a decapping die in mine too, once in awhile I'll stop and knock one out that gets pulled back up in on the 650. Or keep a swage die in it when I get a primer pocket that's swaged. The uses are seemingly endless.

Good arguments. I'll keep the chucker and get a 550 set up for .40/10mm.
I only have those pistol calibers and want to participate in more USPSA matches.
I don't own a 223/556 and my rifle volume is low. Either its for a bolt action swede or a garand.

Thanks for all the advice folks, it's helped alot!

The advantage of a progressive for mass production is pretty clear. BUT
I wonder if precision rifle loads might be better if loaded in a single stage. :anyone:

Your most accurate rounds will always come from a single stage.

(I'll get some rebuttal from the above statement) So bring it on as I have proven it to myself that ammo loaded on
a single stage is more accurate, I will not argue about it!!!

Count me as another multi-press user.

I have 2 single stages, a Lee Turret, and a Dillon 550.

I use them all. I just need to get them set up in the new house.

I am not going to upgrade to a Dillon just yet. I'm going to use that cash to stock up on powder, primers, and bullets.

I do appreciate all the input, and I will get a dillon, just not now
