Was in Crest today and saw bags of Vadilals for about $4. Surprised to see them this late in the year, but not so surprised I did not grab a bag. Will be diced up an put in the freezer for stews and chili.
Heck if it drops below 100 it is stew or chili weather around here. Stew is cheap and chili is ok for my diabetic lunch. Can’t wait for some stew and chili weather.

When we do not have Vidalias, we buy red onions. The wife is very picky but I can eat the red ones, whites, or yellow. I just like onions. Always have. My favorite meal when I am NOT watching my blood sugar is a hamburger steak stuffed with onions and jalapenos, fried potatoes with onions, and pinto beans with onions and chow chow. Little corn bread with onions too.I'm gonna catch hell here, but the Vidalia's and the Texas sweets just don't have the onion flavor we like.
A buddy that has a winter home in Rockport Tx brings us a 50lb bag of softball size Texas sweets every spring and drops them off at our door.
We can't eat that much onion, so give them away to friends, keeping a few, but when reality hits, we like a strong onion.
Red ones uncooked in salads and sandwiches, yellow for cooking and never buy the whites.
