280 ackley or 6.5-06 or 6.5-05 ackley. I love shooting my .280 ai 7mm rem mag performance with about 1/3 less felt recoil. I'm gathering the rest of the parts to build a 6.5-06. You could also go with a .35 Whelen or a 8-06 asquare but recoil increases exponentially. You could also sell current setup and get a magnum bolt face then you would have more options. Ie. .264 win mag 7mm rem .257 stw 7stw .300 win etc. but for a true hunting rig on an 06 bolt face I'd go with a .280 ai or 6.5-06. Or look at a 6-284 or 6.5-284 or 30-284.

I'd consider 6.5x55. Cheap lapua brass is a huge plus.

This. If your are reloading it you can hotrod that thing and make it an awesome gun. The problem with most mfg ammo in that caliber is it is lethargic because it is lower pressure to run in older rifles.

Is this the sweed? What kind of performance can you get from it? I googled a little.

Yeah the swede. Shoots around .260 ballistics. Light recoil. More than adequate out to 1000 yards against paper. I'd say good hunting cartridge out to 600 or so. Good barrel life, and CHEAP LAPUA BRASS!! :D
