I make mine from red rags like the old Globe brand shingles not the newer graded junk but like the ones made in the 60's

I do love me some river sand on a warm sunny windy day you can go to the river and collect what is on top of the sand banks blowing around and what is about 1/2" deep is good also.
This is so fine you can use it to blast carbon off the tops of pistons and it leaves the perfect finish for a hot rod.
The pistons in my 57 chevy are treated with that blowing sand.
