Ive seen this kind of steel cut oats at the health food store: http://www.mccanns.ie/pages/products1.html ;as well as Bobs Red Mill, etc, Ive even see Quakers own brand of steel cut. I just prefer regular old rolled oats myself, theyre creamier to me and not as 'nutty' tasteing. Its like the difference between long grain bleached white rice and long grain whole brown rice with the germ and hulls.

I'm not much of an oatmeal fan unless it's in an oatmeal raisin cookie. My friend swears by the steel cut oats which are also called Irish oats. She has a programmable rice cooker that she fixes her oatmeal in every morning. All she has to do is put the oats and water in at night and in the morning she wakes up to hot oatmeal.

i eat oatmeal 4 times a week for breakfast. the way i like to cook it

get a small apple. dice it in fairly small bits. 1/4
put it in the water while you boil it.. then add oats when water comes to boil like normal. let sit for a couple of minutes.. add splenda.. not sugar and milk.. very good.

gives you some added flavor and some texture. but i can eat it straight too.
