Possibly, hell I enjoy shooting as recreation. I ain't never shot a gun and not had fun doing it. I guess if that happened, it'd be under different circumstances.

Calm down? I'm not the one with my head in the sand. It's pretty bad when you think it's "bad" in America.
If you're referring to me, I didn't say things were "bad" in America. I said things were not so good other places as they are right here right now. And I think it's indisputable, Oklahoma has done a lot better than some other places. We are still on the back edge of an Oil & Gas boom. More jobs, more money. That equals better times to a lot of us.
And I think everyone knows a bad day in The United States is better than a good day in a lot of the world.
Besides, there isn't a lot of sand in western Oklahoma, mostly red shale.

Everything's relative. Good and bad mean so much, or so little. While I agree with the OP that American's freedoms have certainly diminished quickly over even the recent years, the reasoning for such actions and their results are still pretty darn good compared to....any third world nation?

As for why or how we let this happen? Well, we have no choice but to "elect" leaders whose new laws equal profit for them and their cronies. Does anyone disagree with that?

I believe that there has been a level of greed that fueled the complacency for the past 60+ years, and we're reaping the benefits today. I've talked to many people all over the country who see a shift in the idea of "us vs. them".

I tend to agree, it's not all that bad, but it's getting worse and not better. We've got a country whose ideals are split so bad it's been compared to the climate of the us in the 1850's. I've talked to people who fear the government is going to come in and take our guns (I don't think we're there yet), and others who fear their own neighbors because they live in a city with high unemployment and crime is on the rise.

Me, well it's not all that bad. I'm fat and happy, but I've got a mindful eye. If major changes don't come about in our fundamental way of thinking, eventually this have's vs. have not's war our government and it's populace is fueling will end up on my doorstep.

I don't feel to blame for the condition of the country. I am a liberal conservative. I vote. I promote and fight for liberty in my life, and I don't believe that liberty should be taken from anyone regardless of their beliefs. There's too much minding others business in this country, and it really needs to be reeled in. I teach my children the same values, and I try to promote them with my friends if we get on the subject of politics.

John D. Rockefeller felt he was a moral man. I think it's pretty much accepted he was ruthless when it came to business.
My point being, who does feel to blame?
I'm sure Reid, Pelosi & Obama feel they are doing what's best for "the people".
So did Bush, Reagan and Gingrich.

Touche...I would suggest that the people who do not try to stay informed, who do not vote, and who remain complacent are the ones to blame. I guess I can take as much blame as the next person. With that said, if I was to blame the country would be a far different place.

With the state of P.R. in elections these days and misinformation being what it is, you takes yer chances and makes yer choice. Or you don't. When candidates from both major parties don't put their party affiliation on their campaign placards, well that says a lot.
