JB, you are describing a lot of places around Pawnee Oklahoma. Only thing is most of the creeks are dry but actually they're dry most every where else.
I live a couple of miles out from Morrison but I always thought North and East of Pawnee had about the most perfect land for someone that likes being outdoors. You'rd only be about an hour from Tulsa also.

I am immensely proud of my state. It irks me that Texas has such a huge propaganda machine, yet you have to look long and hard to find any sort of "Oklahoma-proud" clothing.

The great thing about being an Okie is that we're great.

After the election I was lamenting the fact that my vote didn't matter. Oklahoma was voting Red no matter what. Then I realized I would rather live in a state full of sane people than for my vote to matter.

I know a lot of us have been feeling doom and gloom for awhile now. . .politics from Washington, pressure from anti-gunners, just general depressing "I miss the America of old" type stuff.

Oklahoma is fairly isolated from a lot of that. We have oil money. Our legislative bodies are becoming more conservative with each election. We have an Attorney General who is happy to thumb his nose at the Fed. We have schools (particularly in the rural areas) full of Christian teachers and admins who are still allowed to discipline students.

Oklahoma may be boring. . .and that's perfectly fine. I have no intention of ever living anywhere else.

I grew up in MI and have lived all over the country and could live in a number of different states if I wanted to, but I have chosen to call OK my home. The weather is far better than MI, even with the summer heat and tornadoes, and the people are nicer.

Somewhere out here!
I have always loved Oklahoma. I moved away and around several times when I was regular Air Force, and was always like 'yeah, this is great, I couldn't wait to get away from OK'. Didn't take too long before I truly missed being here. When I got the opportunity to do the same thing I was doing in active duty, in a similar capacity here in Tulsa, and never move around again, I jumped all over it. I couldn't be happier.

I have traveled throughout every other southern state besides Tennessee and the carolina's and a couple others out that way and Oklahoma had the best people of the south in my books. And I have been all the way out west to California. I have always missed being home and always couldn't wait to get back. Even though I might have had fun I still missed home. We have the most friendly people in the world. I have talked to people who have moved here from Italy to England and Korea and they all love living here. They still can't believe how nice our folks are. It is nice to visit other places every once in a while but I will never leave here. I am also proud to be in the Bible belt and to live in a state that is mostly true to the constitution. We have a good breed of people. I just can't wait until I can by me at least 20 acres of land and put a house on it. That is my dream. When I was younger I was interested in fancy cars and homes but now that I am older those things don't matter to me anymore. I would be happy putting a double wide on some land. And having my truck. To me that is the best feeling in the world. Hopefully in the next couple of years my dreams will come true.
