May sound odd, but my favorite is Crest's brand in the big buckets (it's probably made by Hiland).

It's not as fancy as some other suggestions, but Blue Bell - Chocolate Chip Cooke Dough is tough to beat. I can't take the sugar any longer, so I may only have it a few times a year, but dang it's good!

I like the frozen yogurt places where they charge you by the weight and you get to add all the goodies you want. I think it's name is Menchies
Some of the OnCue convenience stores had that feature

My local ‘Cue took that out when Covid kicked off

A 7 year old (or anyone with pre-teen sensibilities) could go nuts at the feexins bar - peanut butter cups, Oreo pieces, gummy worms, donut sprinkles , oh my!

For grocery store ice cream, I like Edys which Crest sells.
My grandson likes popsicles. Melonas from Costco are pretty good. Allegedly there are banana ones but we've never seen them.
