I read an article once that said Five Guys is intentionally expensive, they followed the Starbucks model.... charge more in order to attract the crowd that likes to feel better about themselves because they pay more for coffee/burgers.

I paraphrased it but no kidding, that's essentially what the article said. I like Five Guys okay, but yeah they're kind of pricey for a burger.

Yeah, I figured as much. I won't be going back. Ever. The coup de grace was the tip jar on the counter as well as the tip option on the CC keypad. Dude! You took my order and handed me a ******* cup!

Son told me, he stopped at Sonic Friday.
Ordered a drink, touched the Pay Cash option on the screen.

Guy brings out drink, he pays with a $20, sits there for a few a seconds. Guy looks at him, "did you want change?"
He flashed, "yes, that's a $20, I want every penny."
Guy: "I'll have to go get it."
Son: "RUN, I'm busy."

No ****! That drives me NUTS.

The thing I do is NEVER leave a tip on the card. Always cash. If they get a tude with me over it -- and a few have -- then they just lost out on the $20 I was gonna lay on the table. I don't think tips ought to be shared with anyone other than your cook and the busboy or your barback because those people helped you do your job efficiently. Anyhow ... You start out with a $20 tip when I sit down to the table ... Or place an order with Sam's. Whether you keep it or not is ENTIRELY up to you.

I may try them. I do love a good onion burger. I'll pay 10 bucks +/- for a good burger IF the fries are included. This Five Guys bullsh*t about 8 bucks for the burger and then 6 bucks for the fries, IMHO is just plain and simple highway robbery.

I gotsta have fries or (even better) onion rings with my burger. Period. No fries or rings, **** it, I'm doing Mexican, Italian or Chinese.

Nothing wrong with that. Some places cost more just to keep the riraff out, and it’s worth it. Five Guys isn’t, but some places are.

Robert's in El Reno has double meat fried onion cheese burger and a basket (1/2 basket order fills basket) and a iced tea for $11.30.
