What kind of spider is this?

Anyone know what kind of spider this is? It look evil and we have found two of them in the house in the past 24 hours. Usually I dont worry about them. they just get squashed and flushed but my mother in law got bit by something at the house last month that really did a number on her finger and I have a 11 mo old who is all over the place and low to the ground.

It looks somewhat like a crab spider. How big is it (legs and all compared to a dime, nickel, or quarter, and does the abdomen have a metallic shine?
