Speaking of Facebook.... I opened a Facebook account strictly because I needed one to work on software that would upload photos to a Facebook account.

Now I get 10 to 15 requests everyday from people I don't even know wanting to be my friend. Can someone enlighten me on why would all these people from all over the world be sending me friend requests. Does Facebook have some deal that makes it desirable to have a million friends?

I don't get the whole social media thing anyway, makes no sense to me at all. If you want to be my friend call me, if I haven't given you my phone number maybe I don't want you to call.

That's the way I feel about the book of faces.
It's the #1 place to get a virus or malware. If you "friend" one person, be it your mom or who ever their list of "friends" is sent to you for friending, and the whole mess goes on and on and on.

Ya, when I was a kid most of my time was spent outdoors with buddies, riding our bycicles all over the place, having dirt clod fights and playing cowboys and indians with cap guns.

Sounds like scouting and preparedness training for terrorist activities today.

Better be careful spoutin' that stuff off, right there....

Just have a look at the parameters of your account. Facebook is pushing for all the traffic it can get. In many ways, social media is to us what Television was to our grandparents. I find it to be a good way for me to stay in touch with family.

Hear ya there. Same here, fishing, shooting, busting puddles on bicycles. Out all day till sun started going then get home for dinner.
However there was this thing called school. We had computers in school. Of course they were pretty big and required tables to hold monitors and CPU, but we had computers and they were part of every day activities at school. Most recently they are using iPads in school as early as 2nd grade. iPads are monitors and essentially cpu in a handheld device.
Most of you more seasoned folks had a party line (I think that was what it is called) where anybody on the same line could pick up and hear the conversation. In actuality that party line is rather similar to facebook IF you don't tighten up your security settings upon setting up an account.

Do yourself a favor and delete your account. Not much good ever comes from Facebook.

This. People get addicted to the attention they get from their "friends" for every action they take. They need the approval of these virtual friends to feel fulfilled in real life. And they waste hours seeking it.

I had an account and got rid of it over a year ago. Dont miss it at all.

we'd stumble across a huge dirt clod and we'd stop fightin to see if we could pick it up. Of course it always broke on us.
