Just control your account. I deleted mine for several years as it got real old seeing what people from HS who I hadn't seen in 12 years had for breakfast. Started it back up about 6 months ago with some new rules for my friend list (people I currently interact with in person, no co workers, limited family members ,etc.). So I have a few handfuls of friends and half of those are people I have met in theist 6months from the range or other gun related contacts I have met. I like Facebook now, especially to follow gun related page updates, etc. only friends can see anything about my page.

Yah cause this forum is more confidential. If someone can get the Above info from your Facebook account they can get it from here.

I was referencing a previous (tongue in cheek) thread. No need to take the things I say TOO seriously....

But really though....Facebook is the debil....

Malware and viruses from Facebook are a direct result of PEBKAC issues.

As for the friend requests, there are bots that just go around and send requests to random people. Sometimes its used for data mining. Other times, its used for social engineering because there is no patch for human stupidity. Lawyers and law enforcement are also known to use such techniques to gather information even though they run afoul of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.

I use Facebook for two things: business and pleasure.

You can set your account to not receive friend requests, or even to only receive them from friends of friends.

No biggie, didn't see the last thread. Facebook can be bad if you have a gazillion friends and put all your info on there. But if someone (gov agency) wants your personal info, they will get it and all your posts. I used to be this paranoid but just don't care anymore. But I don't want all my pseudo friends seeing what I lost, so that's why I have a low friend Facebook account. Facebook does try to overstep and is a little too invasive for my tastes and wants you to make everything public, but I currently get some benefit from it so I accept it, but try my best to limit the intrusion.
