You might look into the S&W M&P 15/22 line up. I'm pretty sure mine is lighter than my stock 1970s Ruger 10/22. And I've shot quite a bit of rimfire challenge with it.

My M&P 15-22 has never had a hiccup. Plus, it's got the 'cool' factor going for it.

My Winchester Wildcat is also a great plinker!

Another vote for the Mossberg Plinkster (702). For a smaller shooter the Plinkster is short, lightweight and reliable. The one we have eats everything we have fed it.

Hello DaveOKC

I own a Mossie 702 and agree it's a very reliable and surprisingly accurate shooter,,,
I've loaned mine out to three friends (maybe four),,,
Two of whom have Appleseed Patches with it.

I believe it would be too long of an LOP for her,,,
But now you have my curiosity up,,,
I'll let her hold it next visit.

Thanks for the suggestions my friends,,,
I'm reading up on everything you've suggested.

I have one of the new Rock Island rifles if you wanna try it out before buying one. You can pick one up new online for around $140 after taxes and shipping give or tak a few bucks. You can borrow the one I have to see if it's a good fit though.
Do you live anywhere near Stillwater?

I would host a day at my rifle-pistol club if you are near enough to it.

One can be bought with a pencil barrel to be lighter. Back in my youth, picked off a crow in a tree a couple hundred yards across a river once with a borrowed rifle and open sights with a luck shot.
Got a little reputation among the buds after that. One in a million shot.
