If Reagan had done the job right in the first place we wouldn't even be in this thread.:boxing3:

It would of course be nice to have a reason to do the "job" in the first place. In 1986 when Reagan attacked him and killed his daughter, he was wrong, Gadafi was not behind the terrorist bombing in Germany. Of course at the time nobody cared, we just wanted to kick some a$$. Two years later, Gadafi bombed the PanAm 747 with around 300 people dead. Right, Reagan did a helluva job. You think he should have done even more.

It was never proven that it was his daughter, it was a 'reportedly adopted daughter' most likely 'adopted' after the incident to generate sympathy for Gaddafi (still tragic that she was killed) and the night club bombing was tied to Libya (specifically Libyan's from the Libyan embassy in East Germany) and Libya offered up compensation to the victims decades later.

Reagan should've finished it.

Here, but occasionally There.
This Libyan issue is interesting. We have an incident started by a Socialist Democrat and the libs are already out there saying that this whole issue is for the oil.

Well, HECK! I thought that Iraq was all about oil. With all the higher prices for gasoline and diesel, I wonder what Bush and Cheney did with all of that oil from there?

/sarcasm off

The bombing was immediately tied to Libya, they knew who did it before the smoke even cleared. Later it was found out that it was the Stasi behind it, after the reunification it was verified beyond any doubt.

Right now, just like every time we are at war with oil producing countries, the prices are up. I believe that we go to war to keep the oil prices up.

http://chss.montclair.edu/english/furr/glaspie.html

"HUSSEIN: We do not want too high prices for oil. ...
HUSSEIN: Twenty-five dollars a barrel is not a high price.

GLASPIE: We have many Americans who would like to see the price go above $25 because they come from oil-producing states."

Actually, the Stasi records showed that Libya was behind it, and Libyans were charged and convicted as a result.

http://www.faqs.org/espionage/Ke-Lo/Libya-U-S-Attack-1986.html

"In the La Belle bombing, he had received help from the East German Stasi intelligence service"
"They included a German woman and three men: a Palestinian, a Lebanese-born German, and a Libyan."
I wouldn't be surprised if both sides worked together. You are correct, at the time I was left with the impression that it was Stasi only.

For sure Stasi helped, or at least turned the other cheek. They were some evil doing pipe hitters! Too hard to go after them without antagonizing the Soviets at that time.
