Apparently APMEX and Edmond Coin are no longer bed partners, at least to the point where APMEX has told me twice now that there is no local pickup anymore and that I must have my orders shipped. Not sure if Steve (think that's the owner's name) sold APMEX or what. It's just a lot more inconvenient now. APMEX, I believe, is now located in downtown OKC.

I have ordered from APMEX in the past but probably won't again due to their policy of no local pickup and charging sales tax.

Not going to pay 15$ or more shipping for coins/bullion to move it from downtown OKC to another location in Oklahoma county. In addition, I believe(I am no lawyer here) that you are not supposed to charge sales tax if buying US currency.

I'd post in the WTB section here. There's quite a few people that sell on a rise like this and they can get a little more than a dealer will pay and you'll get it for less than you'd get from a dealer. APMEX is a better deal outside of Oklahoma since they charge sales tax on bullion items and 3% if you use a charge card.

I've heard and read good things about ampex in OKC.

APMEX is awesome when it comes to their selection. I used to be a member of goldismoney.info and they would offer special discounts on GoldIsMoney stamped rounds on occasion, and I stocked up like hell on those.

They were a lot better when they were associated with Edmond Coins, though. I could order what I want and skip paying expensive shipping and insurance and just pay sales tax and pick up a couple of days after my order was placed.

One thing that hasnt been mentioned, sometimes your can find silver coins at banks, just ask a teller if they have any silver, they will give it to you for face value. Unless the teller is like my wife and buys every bit from her drawer as soon as she gets it. one day she came home with $25.00 face value of 40% halves, I was proud of her...

Well lets just pretend that there really are 1000oz bars. Would you really want to sell them for spot and get paid with cash? I wouldn't want to carry $35k in cash around

Plus if you get paid cash you can't report it to the IRS it is better if you get a check to put in your bank. What if you bought it when it was $6 a oz? You would have made like 30k. Much better to get a check so it is all on record.

I am not certain, but I don't think you have to pay taxes of you sell something like that. there is no way to prove that you made any profit

A few comments:

Yes you have to pay 28% tax on any coin profits or PM's.

They must fill out a 1099 for transactions around 10k (never had to worry about that).

A 1000oz bar better have been assayed and there's a ton of drilled out fakes out there. The COMEX handles 1000oz bars only.
